The new word verification on Blogger is driving me nuts.
I've noticed that some of you have removed it. I have done the same, and hopefully won't get tons of spam. (I'm already getting way too may spam visits from Russian websites, even with word verification turned on.) But they've made it a bit tricky to turn off:
- First of all, you can't be in the new-and-improved (hmmm...) Blogger interface. So, if you're on the new dashboard, click on the little gear wheel up on the right, and select "Old Blogger Interface".
- Once you're at the old dashboard (I've missed you, old buddy!), go to Settings, then Comments, and then scroll down to where you can choose to turn off Word Verification.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one going to the walnuts. I get the whole anti-spam idea, but some of those words are hard to guess!
ReplyDeleteAt least, you got some inspiration from it!
Ha ha...I wish I could claim that it inspired me, but it was an older drawing.
ReplyDeleteMe tooooooo! I first noticed the change on other people's blogs and it discouraged me from leaving comments. Then I realized it was probably happening on my blogs too, so I turned it off.
ReplyDeleteLove the details of your walnut shells. They remind me of ones in my Grandmother's backyard. They look so real I could reach out to pick them up.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you , Sarah, and have turned it off as well. It was SO annoying. Will rethink if/when they change it back. Meanwhile, I guess I will have to chance the spam :) LOVE the nuts!!! Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI am not a robot (I don't think!) but it is hard to read the wacky words; glad there is a solution.
ReplyDeleteAbout the candy hearts - I ate a little box tonight. And now there's one that says "tweet me"!
These nuts are AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, yes, yes. HATE the new word verif. I thought I'd try the audio version (you type the words you hear), but even that was difficult. I hope they change it back. It's worse than New Coke.
Your February hearts are gorgeous. And I enjoyed looking at your vintage postcard collection. Wow, they are treasures!
Love your walnuts!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about word verification. I did't even realise that my own blog had that annoying habit, so I've now deleted it!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who dislikes this. Thanks-I'm going to take it off my blog too. Love your drawing. Like the brown paper too..
ReplyDeleteYour comments about the word verification make me smile. (I'm not a robot either) Love the nuts, I'm working on the same subject at the moment(mixed nuts).
ReplyDeleteI love you're nuts! And 'i finally logged off and ate icecream' shows your frustration, haha!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the word verification being nuts but your nuts are gorgeous!!! I turned mine off too. You will get some anonymous spam comments but the new blogger interface assigns it to the spam tab so you can easily delete them or mark them as Not Spam. Even then, the anonymous comments do not get publish unless you un-spam it. These are what we call 20-80. Opposite of the 80-20 concept. 20% of the blog users are abusers so Blogger punishes the 80% who are good users. Should be 80-20. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat walnuts illustration and I couldn't agree more about the new word verification. Not only is it frustrating it'll make us fat!!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard work to leave a comment these days, I might try turning off the word verification thingy too, see how it goes? I'm still using the old dashboard,I don't like the new one!
ReplyDeleteI hear you with the new word verification.....frustrating! Love the nuts.
ReplyDeleteLove your work!
ReplyDeleteVery funny, and of course a lovely drawing! and thanks for the instructions.. I'm off to do it now.
ReplyDeleteNice illustration Sarah, totally agree with you about the word verification
ReplyDeleteI love your walnut illustration, Sarah. I turned off my word verification...I hope I get more comments :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on this... I have the new, unimproved Blogger ;-) & I hate those illegible verifications. I also hate spam though... I'll try without, but it is already a pain to delete the ones that slip through... if there are too many new ones, I may have to go back. :-(
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful beautiful drawing. Very sensitively drawn.....
ReplyDeleteI too hate the new word identification, and have given up, just like you have. I haven't been able to even FIND the old dashboard, but when I do, I'll turn mine off (or maybe it's never been on?). I don't think I've ever gotten any Spam.....
Really beautiful. I am glad i found your blog tonight! :)
