Work-in-Progress: I always enjoy seeing WIP shots on other people's websites, but I rarely think to stop mid-drawing to record those images. I'm having fun working slowly on this drawing of a turban squash, and I'm actually remembering to scan it along the way. Check back soon to see the finished product!

Very nice rendering. The red just makes the whole thing pop. Well done!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I have always wanted one of these and yet, I always end up just peeling/coring my apples by hand every year.
Great illustration Sarah and what a great contraption! The long red string of apple at the end would be like a prize.
ReplyDeleteI *LOVE* your apple-peeler! You're so good with details-- all the little parts are so clear. And the colors you chose make it look appropriately retro.
ReplyDeleteI remember having had one of those peeling contraptions! Perfect likeness! Beautiful drawings :)
ReplyDeleteLove your contraption, and great to see your work in progress, can't wait to see more, its already looking beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe love our apple peeler - great for making apple butter. And your drawing is right on.
ReplyDeleteLove the apple corer in action! Your squash is looking good too.
ReplyDeleteSarah, your drawings are so beautiful. I look forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting mine & for your kind words :)
Great idea for the theme! I kept thinking of the mousetrap game too... great minds!?
ReplyDeletethis is beautifully done! I love the pop of red!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been particularly inspired by 'contraption ' either! but yours is awesome!
Wonderful apple peeler. Very nicely drawn, and I like the pop of red too. I really love your WIP turban squash too. I forget to take photos along the way too, but I like seeing other people's steps along the way. This is going to look gorgeous when you're finished. Looks great now.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your contraption!
ReplyDeleteAnd the turban squash - I've always wanted to do one of those but have chickened out. They're so beautiful. Can't wait to see yours all done! Loving it so far.
Beautiful drawing.
ReplyDelete( All these contraptions used in the kitchen are usually very annoying to wash...... :D )
So delicately depicted!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me hungry and I don't even like apple peels, mostly because they insist on getting stuck between my teeth.
I so heart dropping by here and cheers for the bonus of showing us your WIP!
I love seeing those too.
Oh! My mom just gave us one of those! It's very cool. But as kitchen gadgets go, nothing is as fun as the spiralizer! It's somewhat similar, but cuts thin strips all the way in. I love making zucchini spaghetti.
ReplyDeleteThe turban squash is gorgeous, even unfinished!
My first time visiting your blog, glad I found it. Love your drawings and style, and there is a lot of inspiration... My daughter bought a lot of different size pumpkins, Im trying to draw them before I cook with few of them and rest end up as Halloween decor : )
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work,cheers
Mari
I love seeing the work in progress! It's amazing to see how many layers go into a craft you don't understand (I mainly do watercolour and photography, so coloured pencil is new to me). I'll be sure to check back for updates :)
ReplyDeleteAs for IF, I've not posted the past two weeks, but I'm determined to work with "scattered" this week. :)
Gorgeous work, Sarah!! I have one of those contraptions and they're wonderful!! And you've illustrated it so beautifully..the process pics of the turban squash are so wonderful on their own. Awesome that you've shared this with us. Happy Autumn to you!
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for your terrific "contraption" drawing! The topic had me stumped too but instead of solving it beautifully as you did, I just decided to blow it off! As always, I love seeing your work.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah. I've been so busy as of late but I love your super contraption, super squash (the color combination is wonderful) and your black + white studies too.
