Illustration Friday: Sweater
When I saw the topic, "sweater", I knew that there would be some wonderful illustrations this week, and I haven't been disappointed. There are some really great pieces, especially from the wonderful creators of children's art. But for me, this was a tough one...I rarely draw people, or clothes-wearing animals, so I had to think about it in my terms, which usually start with botanicals. My saucer magnolia is blooming, and its flowers burst out of furry little sweater-like buds, but after drawing the quince last week, I wanted something different. Yesterday, I was at Safeway and saw the kiwi...all of that colorful goodness wrapped up in little fuzzy brown sweaters.

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my blog.
Lovely to see your kiwi fruit drawing. It's beautiful and different from ALL those people/animals wearing pullover/jumper entries, no matter how well drawn.
Love your Reverse drawing too. Very clever, topical and again beautifully drawn.
What a lovely drawing and interesting take on this week's prompt! Congratulations, too, on having your "reverse" illustration featured this week.
ReplyDeleteYou're right! Such a cute natural sweater! And congrats for the last week's illustration too :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha great take on the topic! Beautiful drawing...I love Kiwis!
ReplyDeleteclever idea! like your drawing!
ReplyDeleteLove the fuzzy jackets on your kiwis. The warmth of the brown sweater protecting the cool green goodness inside is a nod to our crazy trying-to-be-a-spring-shower rain. Everything is present and showing off all at once.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! Wonderful work. :D
ReplyDeleteYour fuzzy skins/sweaters look so realistic. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteHow clever! I love it.
ReplyDeleteHooray for kiwis!
ReplyDeleteSarah - I love, love, love you interpretation of sweater. You should have been featured again for this entry. So bright and cheery...
ReplyDeleteclever and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHahah! This is funny rendition of sweater. This is beautiful. I have drawn kiwi in colored pencil too but I think yours is so much better!
ReplyDeleteGreat thinking. The Chinese Gooseberry was renamed the Kiwi after New Zealand’s flightless native bird, with its rounded body and coat of brown feathers. Lately I’ve being enjoying the delicately flavoured, but ‘naked’ Gold Kiwi. ‘Kiwi’ seems such a misnomer in this case, as they’ve bred the furry ‘sweater’ right off them.
